DJ Shawn Q
Making and playing music for people have always been Shawn Q's biggest passions. In 1993, fresh out of high school, Shawn landed his first club gigs, playing venues where he was too young to "legally" order a drink.
Shawn's 10 years of DJ experience, along with his attention for detail have
made him one of Baltimore's most in demand club DJ's.
In his sets, he's known for his dark, bassline heavy, tribal driven grooves intertwined choice vocal tracks that will leave you wondering ,"Where does he find this stuff?"
Dropping original tracks and creating re-edits of works he admires have become Shawn's trademark. He credits Danny Tenaglia (Be Yourself, NYC) as his primary inspiration for many of his tracks as well as his flare for re-edits, re-touches, and "Mashups."
In 1995, he had earned enough money as a club DJ to create "Exit 13 Studios." He's been banging out tracks ever since.
Shawn has had his hand in over 10 label releases that have included original tracks and re-mixes that include Ultra Nate "Brass in Pocket," and Amber "The Need to be Naked." (which went to #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart) His re-edit of "Work it to the Bone" has been repeatedly dropped by every DJ from Danny Tenaglia, (at The his Winter Party @ Space Miami) to Oscar G, (on the Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1) Shawn's mixes of LNR "Work it to the Bone", Mary Mary "Shackles" and Madonna's "Deeper and Deeper"
have become long lasting classics that still get heavy rotation from DJs all over the world. Currently, Shawn is excited to be partnered with Transcode records to release his original tracks. Be on the look out for a new wave of productions in 2007. Coming up for release is Shawn's remix of "Automatic" by Ultra Nate and an original Track entitled "Ahh Yeah!" Both are slated for release at WMC 2007.
